Rose Bundy, also known by Rosa, is believed be the only child of serial killer Ted Bundy.
She was 38 years old when she was born in October 1982.
Bundy met her mother Carole Ann Boone while she was working at the Department of Emergency Services in Olympia, Washington. After Bundy used an obscure Florida law to declare a marriage in court, they were married.
Conjugal visits were forbidden for death row inmates, but Ann Rule, a former friend, wrote that prisoners had been known to pool money to bribe their guards so they could spend time alone with their female visitors.
Rumours also abound about Rose’s conception. Boone was said to have given Bundy a condom via kiss. Bundy then filled it and returned it the same way. Boone answered The Desert News in September 1981 when she was asked about the conception of her child.
Rose Bundy: What happened to her?
Rose Bundy’s location is unknown. Ted daughter, however, seems determined to escape the shadows of her murder father.
Three years before Bundy’s execution, Boone split from Bundy in 1986 and fled Florida with Rose, her son from an earlier relationship, James. Bundy never spoke to her again, and Rose was not allowed to contact her father. Boone disappeared from the public eye after the divorce and was not mentioned in the media.
It is believed that she changed the names of her and her daughter. Rose may not be aware of programmes like The Ted Bundy Tapes, a Netflix documentary series, or the 2019 film Extremely Wicked Shockingly Evil and Vile.
Ann Rule, author of The Stranger Beside Me and Bundy’s suicide crisis hotline centre volunteer, says Rose is doing well despite being far from the spotlight. She stated that she had heard Ted’s daughter was intelligent and kind, but did not know where her mother might be.
“They’ve been through enough pain.”
Carole Ann Boone is Ted Bundy’s wife. What do we know about Rose Bundy’s mother?
There is very little information available about Boone’s origins and whereabouts. Boone was known for being a “lusty-tempered, free spirit”, and she was smart and witty.
Some of her coworkers described her as a mother figure or sister. Boone was recently divorced when she met Ted Bundy and was trying to raise her son James.
Bundy began his career at the Washington State Department of Emergency Service. He was a fascinating character who caught the eye of both men (and women) alike. Boone fell in love immediately, and later stated that Bundy had indicated his desire to date him right from the beginning.
Boone stated in The Only Living Witness: The True Story of Ted Bundy, “I liked Ted instantly.” It was a great match.” He seemed to me to be a shy person with more than just the surface. He was certainly more reserved and dignified than the more confident people in the office.
Bundy continued to be with his current girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer, as well as several other women. Many of them were later murdered.
Bundy was arrested under suspicion of multiple kidnappings or murders. Boone and Bundy became very close during their trial in Florida in 1979. After exchanging letters, Boone and her son moved to Florida to be closer Bundy. Boone and Bundy expressed a desire for marriage, but the authorities made it clear that this was impossible.
Ted Bundy found an obscure Florida law, however.
